From 1 to September 3 in Hall 8 of the Fair, there are collections for next Spring/Summer 2011. On the catwalk, along the three days, will be screened 30 proposals for prêt-à-porter, in premiere, at the gateway of the Fair. Istanbul Fashion Week may be new, but it’s not lacking for bold faced names in the front row.
Pat Field is a fixture, which makes sense, since Istanbul Fashion Week’s press kit says she “aims to introduce the Turkish brands and designers to the world and to turn Istanbul into an effective fashion center.” It’s a tall order, but if anyone can make Istanbul happen, it’s Pat Field. This fall marks the inaugural New Jersey Fashion Week, an innovative fashion week that allows emerging local designers and beauty professionals to showcase their skills to leading fashion industry influencers, beauty experts, potential buyers, and consumers. OFW was first held in February 2004, and is arranged twice a year, in February and August.
It was launched to promote Norwegian fashion design, and to set Norwegian design in an international context. OFW is the main showcase promoting Norwegian designers and their collections. During OFW in February the award “Naloyet”, given by the magazine HENNE , is awarded to last year’s best Norwegian designer after a fashion show presenting all the nominees. This ceremony is part of the official opening night and has been every February since 2005.

Monday marks the launch of the 10th edition of Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek, and in addition to the usual jam-packed show schedule for media guests and buyers, this season will see the Week take a further step towards reaching out to consumers. Copenhagen Fashion Week kicked off Wednesday, with a fabulous opening show featuring “tiny pleasures” by Scandinavian designers for the 2011 spring and summer.
The fashion and color trends of the 2011 spring and summer collections, unveiled at the Fashion Week by famous designers from Danish and all over the world, are all about “sharing” and “tiny pleasures,” the fair’s organizers said.
The show of Copenhagen conveys the message that young adults in modern society seek to “construct a tender refuge to escape from the vagaries of the world,” the organizers said.
