Last year was a disastrous year for love in Hollywood, but luckily, 2017 is already looking a lot better thanks to a select number of celebrity couples who have decided to give love a shot.
Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have not been shy about flaunting their newfound romance all over the globe, while Lady Gaga and her man have been keeping a low profile. Shay Mitchell and Amy Poehler, on the other hand, both have yet to publicly step out with their new boyfriends, but we’re holding out hope that they do so soon.
1. Lady Gaga and Christian Carino
While many fans were holding out hope that Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney would reconcile, their dreams were shattered when news broke that the “Million Reasons” singer had begun dating her Creative Artists Agency agent in February. The report came just a few days after the two were spotted kissing at the Super Bowl in Houston, where Lady Gaga blew everyone away with her halftime performance.
2. Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez
Following her split from Drake, Jennifer moved on to the former MLB star in March. “They have been dating for a few weeks,” a source close to Jennifer confirmed to People. “She seems excited. He has been around her family and she really likes that he is a dad. She is aware, though, that he is a ladies’ man too and is being cautious. For now, it’s just fun. She is single and enjoys dating.” Both stars have kids from previous relationships; Jennifer shares twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and Alex is dad to daughters Natasha and Ella with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.
3. Shay Mitchell and Matte Babel
The Pretty Little Liars star is currently dating the ET Canada reporter. According to a source, the pair have been quietly dating “for a few months” and “are serious and are having fun together.” Shay and Matte both hail from Toronto and first met through mutual friends in LA. Matte is also close friends with Drake and his BFF Ryan Silverstein, who happens to be Shay’s ex-boyfriend.
4. Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma
The Younger actress seemingly confirmed her new romance with the singer when the two stepped out together for Entertainment Weekly’s SAG Awards preparty in LA in January. A source told Us Weekly, their relationship is “pretty recent” and “Hilary thinks Matt is very talented and cute.” The duo previously worked together on Hilary’s 2015 Breathe In. Breathe Out. album.
5. Diego Luna and Suki Waterhouse
The Rogue One actor and British model sparked dating rumors after they were spotting enjoying a romantic getaway in Tulum, Mexico, in January. There’s still no word on when they first got together, but they might have been secretly dating for over a year.
6. Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix
News broke in early January that the Mary Magdalene costars were dating. According to Page Six, the pair, who played a couple in the film Her, “fell for each other on the set while shooting the biblical epic and have been spending a lot of time together ever since.” Neither Rooney nor Joaquin have confirmed their romance yet.
7. Matthew Lawrence and Cheryl Burke
In February, it was revealed that the Dancing With the Stars pro and the actor had rekindled their romance after almost a decade apart. According to E!, “Cheryl is really happy.” The couple initially met in 2006 through Matthew’s brother Joey (he was a contestant on the third season of Dancing With the Stars), and they dated for about a year before eventually calling it quits.
8. Selena Gomez and The Weeknd
Fans were thrown for a loop when photos surfaced of The Weeknd and Selena sharing a kiss outside of Giorgio Baldi restaurant in LA in early January. While neither one of them has publicly confirmed their relationship, their PDA-filled date nights pretty much speak for themselves.
