Rising German design star Helen Bender will show her first collection of bridal fashions for lesbian couples under the label la mode abyssale on the runway at Couture Fashion Week. The fashion show will be held at 8:00 pm on Friday September 6, 2013 in the Grand Ballroom or The New Yorker Hotel, 481 Eighth Avenue in the heart of New York City’s Fashion District.
A graduate of Germany’s prestigious Modefachschule Sigmaringen design school, Helen Bender is one of only a handful of designers who tailor matching outfits for lesbian bridal couples. Being well aware of the fact that her clients often do not fit the cliché of “one being the man in theHelen Bender Fashion Show at Couture Fashion Week NY relationship”, each custom made design is tailored in a very feminine style.
“I love jumpers, overalls and suits just as much as dresses,” says the designer.” And my customers attach great importance to feeling dressed up, yet comfortable and consistent to their own style on their big day. All my designs underline every individual’s character.”
In the collection entitled “Charmed Brides” to be shown in New York, Ms. Bender uses a mixture of fabrics, from delicate lace to rough wash-leather, in classic bridal colors like cream and pearl white, but also mystical black and gold. The impeccably constructed garments embody a simple elegance with some unexpected twists.
