Welcome to Charleston Fashion Week Bull’s Illume Exhibit and Emerging Fashion Designers event, that is one of the colorful Fashion Weeks around the world.

Red Bull arranged beautiful location for the Illume Exhibit at Marinon Square Museum along with Charleston Fashion Week 2011/2012. On Friday night, the photographic display met a huge welcome, with crowds of people surrounding the illuminated images by 50 winning action and sport photographers whose works were chosen from 22,000 entries. A global effort with photos selected from all over the world, the exhibit has made its home in the Lowcountry for the second stop on its U.S. tour. Friday’s opening event set the tone for Charleston Fashion Week ^2011/2012 as we danced in Marion Square under the stars to the tunes of the CFW music director Arthur Brouthers. And the party continues as people still gather each night to check out the exhibit, so it’s not too late to get in on the action!

RAFW Registration is open now!

Registration to attend Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW), Spring Summer Collections 2011/12, is now OPEN. RAFW is Australia’s premier fashion industry event providing a platform for Fashion Designers to showcase their wholesale collections to the world’s most influential buyers and media.

It is an industry-only event made accessible to registered and accredited delegates only. RAFW takes place from 2 – 6 May 2011 and is located at the Overseas Passenger Terminal on the spectacular Sydney Harbour.

Fifth Annual Charleston Fashion Week 2011

The 14th edition of the Amsterdam International Fashion Week (AIFW) started Wednesday January 26th. On schedule are about 25 shows. Part of the AIFW is Fashion Week LAB, a platform for young designers. About 10 designers show their F/W collections 2011 off-schedule.

Six years ago Jan Taminiau, known for his romantic style, showed for the first time during AIFW. Since then his star is rising: Lady Gaga was spotted in one of his dresses with matching shoes. Another famous client is princess Máxima of the Netherlands.

Well, it’s time for Amsterdam Fashion Week again, which means shows by designers such as: Jan Taminiau, Spijkers en Spijkers, Bas Kosters, Addy van den Krommenacker, Tony Cohen, Supertrash and so on.

The morning of Amsterdam International Fashion Week Amsterdam brought two very interesting collections to the catwalk: Roparosa, by Roos van der Kamp, and Bravoure Amsterdam. International opening of the fashion week

Copenhagen Fashion Week kicks off on Wednesday, February 2 with a press conference at Copenhagen City Hall, where the Minister of Economic and Business Affairs, Brian Mikkelsen, will participate. The press conference is followed by the official opening show by Kopenhagen Fur, in which an impressive league of new rising stars on the international fashion scene, including Anne Valerie Hash (France), Gaspard Yurkievich (France), J. Miami Beach International Fashion Week will kick off on January 27th with its second annual Humanitarian Awards event at Mondrian in South Beach.  Ten of South Florida’s most philanthropic members in the community will be honored with the nominee of a humanitarian award. Sponsored by Tiffany & Co, the event benefitting the Miami Fashion Week Foundation, Inc. is co-sponsored by Moroccan Oil- to name a few. Celebrity disc jockey, Sandman, will be spinning for this memorable event.  Television and radio celebrities Brian Andrews and Ileana Garcia will host the event along with Miami’s top fashion designers and celebrity guests.

The Miami Fashion Week Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) independent and not- for- profit organization that strives on generating funds for charitable and philanthropic initiatives. The goal of the foundation is to provide scholarships to the winners of the Miami Beach International Fashion Week competitions so that they may have the opportunity to thrive in their efforts in becoming professional within the fashion industry. Birmingham based stylist/designer Maria Rehmali will showcase her debut womenswear and luggage collection on the first day of February 2011’s London Fashion Week as part of LGN Events’ flagship off-schedule catwalk show, A La Mode.

The Rehmali brand is born of Maria’s recognition of an individualistic approach to couture. Having earned her stripes in fashion cred by working as a personal stylist, Maria realised that each client wanted a unique garment which they felt comfortable in. It was this that gave her the determination and spirit to design her own range.

Growing up in Birmingham, Maria has been exposed to a vibrant, colourful cultural environment which is credited with enhancing much of her creative influences. She has also embarked on insightful travel experiences which she feels benefit her collection immensely, claiming she has learnt about the world and how fashion impacts on an individual’s creativity through the colour, scenery, climate and social status of locations she has encountered.

Think of it like slipping into an ice-cold pool, one millimeter at a time, until the temperature feels almost normal. That’s the way men have eased their way into skirts over the past decade. One surprising thing about the feminine elements that showed up en masse at the Paris menswear shows today is that nobody laughed. It has to be said a lot of the men in the audience are already wearing some version of a clingy, layered tunic over cigarette jeans with biker boots, perfecto jacket and maybe a trilby.  The tunic works like a dress, and the hat says I’m sartorial, which confers on men an androgynous cool.

In some ways, a Rick Owens show changes little from season to season, but then, men change their style little from season to season anyway. And Owens does have a distinct idea that he constantly pushes further along. One significant aspect of that idea is the dropped, skirtlike waistline often created with multiple draped layers of fabric. Occasionally an actual skirt appears, but usually some variation of a long shirt hem shows below the bottom edge of a suit jacket. Sometimes it just shows in the back, approximating the visual effect of wearing a shirt tied around the waist an easy jumping off point for understanding how a skirt can look masculine on a guy.
