Meghan Markle reveals first ‘unglamorous’ job before acting

Before her acting career, Meghan Markle did several “odd” jobs to get by.

Meghan Markle has become one of the most well-known personalities today. Before becoming an official member of the British Royal Family, she had her acting career, which she always dreamed of having as a child.

But, it was not all easy for her. Prior to her stint in Hollywood films and television series, she had to do several jobs to pay her bills. Some of which are even “unglamorous.”

Despite the nature of the work, though, the Duchess of Sussex seemingly credits them all for “shaping” her into the person she is today. She even once mentioned and touted her first shocking job, according to Cheat Sheet.

Meghan Markle visited the Macarthur Girls High School in Australia in 2018. As part of the royal tour, she spoke before a group of 14-year-old students.

She said that they all reminded her of herself when she was growing up. As it happened, she went to an all-girls school, which she credits, as well, for the person she has become.

The Duchess of Sussex, then, revealed that part of her job at that time was to take out the trash. While she did not get into the details of it, she said that it made her who she is.

New Idea released a report at that time, covering the speech she made. She said that being in front of “empowered young women” makes her emotional.

She also encouraged the young students to “keep up” with their confidence, as well as their intention to do things that will “change the world.” In the end, she praised them all for the “good work,” adding that she is “happy” to be there.

While carving out her way to become an actress, Meghan Markle did a few unique side-jobs. Insider released a list of the things she did to earn money as she continued with her auditions.

Aside from selling frozen yogurts and modeling as a “briefcase girl” for the game show, she also did some freelancing. The Duchess of Sussex used to be a “freelance calligrapher” as she had a “propensity for mastering cursive.”

She previously shared her experiences and some of the gigs she had in the past. These include wedding invitations for Robin Thick and Paula Patton and celebrity correspondence for Dolce & Gabbana.

Meghan Markle taught calligraphy classes, as well, at the Paper Source store in Beverly Hills. She hosted and instructed customers in each of her two-hour classes. Alongside calligraphy, she also led gift-wrapping and book-binding classes.
