Mulberry reveals Celine designer Johnny Coca as creative Director

Mulberry has named Johnny Coca its new creative director, confirming a report that Coca was the front-runner for the job.

Coca was most recently head design director for leather goods, accessories, shoes and jewelry at Céline, where he had been since 2010.

"I very much look forward to joining Mulberry as their new creative director and to leading a new design direction at one of the very best British brands," said Coca, who will be responsible for all of Mulberry’s collections, and report to Godfrey Davis, chairman and chief executive officer.

In a statement Thursday Davis said Coca: "Has a wealth of international luxury and fashion experience that will help us bring new energy and innovation to Mulberry."

He formerly worked for Bally and Louis Vuitton in accessories, and is also an accomplished jewelry designer. He’s tutored fashion students at Central Saint Martins, and is highly respected in the industry.

Mulberry has been hunting for a creative director since 2013, when Emma Hill departed. Since her departure the in-house design team has been creating accessories and rtw collections for the brand. Coca will join Mulberry on July 8th.
