British fashion designer and couturier Lee Alexander McQueen born on 17 March 1969 in Lewisham, London intended to be a fashion designer while designing dresses for his three sisters at very young age. He attended Rokeby School and left it in 1985. McQueen served apprenticeship with Savile Row tailors Anderson & Sheppard and then joined Gieves & Hawkes, later he joined Angels and Bermans. Skills learned at Savile Row made his way to fashion world as an expert.

Alexander McQueen got niche clientele including Mikhail Gorbachev and Prince Charles. At the age of 20 he worked for Koji Tatsuno till a period and then traveled to Milan and Italy working for Romeo Gigli. He then returned to London in 1994 and applied to Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, to work as a pattern cutter tutor. He received his masters degree in fashion designing with his graduation collection influencing fashion stylist Isabella Blow persuaded him to subsequently launching his fashion career and earning mid name as Alexander.

Alexander McQueen worked for ‘Homogenic the cover album of Icelandic singer Björk in 1997 and also directed music video. His debut runway collections developed controversial reputation for him earning the title "the hooligan of English fashion" but he moved on creating sizzling luxurious dresses and showcasing them. He had also been named as British Fashion Designer of the Year four times, in 1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003. He was awarded International Designer of the Year by The Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2003 and the same month he was honored as a Most Excellent Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to the British fashion industry. McQueen was awarded British Menswear Designer of the Year in 2004.

McQueen’s spring 2005's human chess game; and his fall 2006 show "Widows of Culloden," credited him bringing drama to fashion ramps. He also became the first international fashion designer portraying his wears on an Indian fashion model in London.

Alexander McQueen had boutiques in London, New York, Los Angeles, Milan and Las Vegas by the end of 2007. Many famous celebrity as Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Sarah Jessica Parker and Rihanna, have frequently been spotted wearing Alexander McQueen clothing on events. McQueen also worked with top fashion models of fashion industry including Coco Rocha, Jessica Stam, Adriana Lima, Lily Cole, Gisele Bundchen and Isabeli Fontana.

Owning these consecutive successes in fashion world Alexander McQueen unfortunately left this world with suspicious suicide on 11 February 2010 and is no more there to rock the ramps!
