Victoria Beckham Collection for London Fashion Week Spring 2016

Victoria Beckham’s trip to Marrakech earlier this year certainly left an impression. She was there in the spring to celebrate her husband David’s 40th birthday, and wove some of that famous Moroccan flavor into her latest Victoria Victoria Beckham diffusion line.

Enchanted by the city’s legendary gardens, Beckham conceived a collection done in a sun-soaked palette of bougainvillea pink, saffron and tangerine and filled with naïf prints inspired by tropical flowers – and a few of the garden’s inhabitants. A chicken named Bertie featured big in one of the prints, while a ladybug crawled over another, and made an appearance on T-shirts. Flowers even sprouted on the lineup’s denim, with one dress bearing the faded image of a single tulip in bloom.

“The collection really reflects the color, the tiles, the energy of Marrakech – and I really wanted it to be fun. And I really want to reach out to as many women as I can with this collection,” Beckham said during a walk-through. She did not disappoint. The lineup included a shift with an abstract tile pattern – some done as cutouts – and another black dress with sweet, homemade-looking flower embellishments on the front. Elsewhere, trapeze dresses were printed with the chicken and floral motif, while A-line ones were covered with lace flowers or flourishes of macramé, and others were edged with delicate fringing. Coats and stretchy knitted dresses also took their cues from Moroccan tile patterns.

For the trouser-inclined, Beckham offered flares with matching tops in eye-searing shades of pink or orange, and a lineup of jeans – earlier this year, she folded denim into this collection – in a variety of fits, including a new kick-hem culotte.
