Founded by Beth Sobol in 1999, Miami Beach International Fashion Week has become the biggest Latin American and International Fashion festival in the United States. For over 15 years now, Miami Fashion Week has been the main event that is known to set global trends and showcase a huge line of unique designer collections from all over the continent. The international show has always been acknowledged for showcasing superb international talent, whether it be emerging or established, to the forefront of the American retail marketplace.
Miami Fashion Week 2014 started off at the Miami Beach Convention Center with grand runways, red carpets, pop-up boutiques and VIP lounges during the event premiere on 15th May 2014. The event lasted for four days till 18th May, 2014. Founder of Miami Fashion Week Beth Sobol welcomed the crowd to the first showcase to debut on the runway, the Miami Overture. It was a party like any other. The week proved to be a booming success with its high class ramp walks, exquisite collection of dresses and swim suits, fashion competitions, blogging corners and the ever crowded hustle bustle of Miami’s fashion week backstage drama.
Hosts Maria De La Fuente, Ingrid Marie and Marta Gonzalez interviewed designers as the Miami Fashion Week event was streaming live on the website. Celebrities like Maripily Rivera honored the red carpet with her presence, while others wandered around the place fascinated by the unexpected yet amazing line of events on the show.
Custo Barcelona showcased an amazing fashion collection, proving that Miami knows high fashion indeed. The following days followed with soft cheery ramp walks by children in trendy little business suits and later into fierce and amazing swim suit catwalks, designer dresses with incorporated jewels, latest younger fashion with tops and miniskirts and much more. Founder Beth Sobol handed out student and emerging designer awards to the recipients of the Miami Fashion Week 2014 Competitions, many of whom had flown in from all over the world.
With top fashion names such as Custo Barcelona and Sherri Hill and models from renowned agencies like Wilhemina and Ford, the convention centre was filled with entertaining term of events at every interval of every day. With style talks from some of the best known makeup artist from around the continent like t Yolanda Lopez as she performed her beauty tricks onto a participant, the event grew more extravagant with gorgeous evening gowns from Fadila Kihel, Magnolia, Teresa Rosati and Olga Bolaños that displayed long, ethereal gowns and silky fabrics.
The last day of event welcomed more celebrities from around the continent including Miss Universe and Grammy nominated singer Leslie Grace, Miss Michigan Teen USA Iris Robare and Miss Pennsylvania Teen USA Sydney Robertson who watched the show from a spectacle view. The entire event came to a close at the Surcomber Hotel in South Beach which was just two blocks away, and celebrated the soaring success of Miami Fashion Week 2014. Models, designers, volunteers and guests came together to celebrate the epic triumph of the fashionable week in Miami, as the band Miami On Beat played the fashion week’s single,” This is Miami…”. This show was like no other and proved to be the best in business for the year.
