Facial Treatments

facial-treatmentsIn a facial treatment a person’s face is cleaned, exfoliated and nourished to promote clear, well-hydrated skin. A facial is the second most popular spa treatment after massage. It is also called a “deep-cleansing facial” or “deep-pore cleansing” facial because of the extractions.

A facial involves various skin treatments including: steam, exfoliation, extractions, creams, lotions, masks, peels and massage. Facials can be categorized into three main types: The European Facial, The Mini Facial, and The Light Therapy Facial.

It is always better to get a facial done from a professional licensed esthetician who has been trained in skin care. A facial usually costs $75 and special facials using special serums and masks can cost much more. If the cost is too much you can also give yourself a facial at home, which though not as effective as the professional facial will still remove all the grime and pollutants from your face. First the face will be washed and then exfoliated with a scrub. The scrub should be rubbed gently in a circular motion on your face. After rinsing press a warm wet washcloth on your face two or three times. Put on the mask and leave it on for fifteen minutes. After washing off the mask, finish off the facial by putting on a good moisturizer.

Ideally it is better to get a facial once a month. Do not overdo it, as that can be harmful for the skin.
