Prince William had ‘cyber relationship with a pop princess’ before Kate Middleton

She might be a princess of pop but it seems at one point in time Britney Spears may have been on track to becoming a real royal.

In his new book, Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives Of William, Kate, Harry, And Meghan, royal author Christopher Andersen claims that Britney once shared a cyber relationship with none other than Prince William.

Andersen alleged in the book, which was released on November 30, that the so-called cyber relationship between the pair happened before the Duke of Cambridge met and married his wife of 10 years, Kate Middleton.

Although William, 39, and Britney, 40, were in contact, the relationship never developed into anything more, the author claimed.

‘There may have been phone conversations, but I don’t recall that they ever actually managed to get together during that period,’ he said.

Andersen also said that The Duke of Cambridge has a similar relationship with model Lauren Bush, who is the niece of former President of the US, George W Bush.

It seems there may be some truth to the tale as back in 2002, Britney herself admitted during an interview on ITV1’s Frank Skinner Show, that she and the Prince had ‘exchanged emails for a little bit, and he was supposed to come and see [her] but it didn’t work out.’

It was shortly after in 2003 that William started dating Kate when the pair met when studying together at the University of St Andrews. The couple announced their engagement in 2010 and wed the following year.

Britney is currently preparing to tie the knot with her fiancé Sam Asghari after gaining freedom from her 13-year conservatorship. The singer sparked speculation that she’d already wed her beau in a post to mark her 40th birthday.

Andersen also claimed in his book Brothers And Wives how William had once had a big crush on singer Cindy Crawford when he was 14. ‘I think it’s very cute,’ he said.

The writer went on to say that William’s mother Princess Diana actually arranged for her son to meet with Cindy ‘because that’s the kind of person she was.’
