Cate Blanchett, and by that we mean blow us away with yet another hands-down spectacular turn on the red carpet. Last night at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, the fashion risk taker showed us how to make a regal brocade dress unexpectedly glamorous—and gave us an idea of how to look fabulous on a ridiculously freezing day.
Cate’s dress and jacket set from the Antonio Berardi pre-fall 2014 collection boasted a few elements to amp up a weightier winter texture: a silvery-sheen, contrast-printed paneling, a shock of lipstick red lining, and a sculptural silhouette with voluminous-skirting and a structured rise-fall hemline. The overall effect is impossibly chic and refined, just what we expected from Katharine Hepburn’s spirit animal. (Only joking, we know Cate makes a signature statement all her own.)
