Prince William records a message of support during health crisis

Prince William has now spoken out and is showing his support for all those fighting against the crisis, praising the UK’s ‘unique ability’ to pull together during this time.

The Duke of Cambridge took to the official Kensington Royal Twitter account and shared a video along with the caption: ‘@TheNatEmergTrust has launched an appeal to raise funds to help local charities support individuals suffering hardship as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.’

During his speech, the 38-year-old said shared: ‘The way that local communities support those affected shows the very best of our values and human nature.’

‘The public’s desire to help in the wake of tragedy needs to be managed and channelled in the best possible way which is why the establishment of the National Emergencies Trust was so important.’

Speaking of the crisis, Prince William continued: ‘I said at its launch last year that I dreaded the day when it would be needed. Sadly, with the outbreak of Covid-19, that day has come faster than any of us would have hoped.’

‘But now, more than ever, I am grateful that the National Emergencies Trust exists. It will ensure that support reaches those across the UK who need it most, as quickly and efficiently as possible.’

He finished: ‘And it will help to ensure that all our efforts to overcome this challenge are channelled in the best possible way.’

The Prince’s message comes just after it was announced that schools would close from Friday onwards in the UK, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in an attempt to stop the spread of coronavirus.

GCSE and A-Level exams, which are the equivalent to the Leaving Cert and were planned for May and June will be postponed while nurseries and private schools have also been told to close.
