Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married at St. George’s Chapel Windsor Castle, and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank followed suit. However, it was revealed that Beatrice will have her nuptials elsewhere.
“Her Majesty The Queen has kindly given permission for the ceremony to take place at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace,” an official announcement revealed. “The ceremony will be followed by a private reception, given by The Queen, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.”
According to Express, this gesture helps the Queen show that she still supports her granddaughters despite Prince Andrew’s recent scandals related to his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. The Duke of York stepped back from public royal duties, but the allegations that a teenager was forced to have sex with him are still very much in the spotlight.
However, in addition to showing her granddaughter some support, it may also signal that the Queen is trying to cut costs. “Outrage over the cost of Princess Eugenie’s wedding on the British taxpayer, may have made the Queen keen to cut down on security costs on Bea’s big day,” the outlet reports.
“Buckingham Palace is the Queen’s main residence and as such has a constant security presence. This could mean less extra security than usual will be needed for Beatrice’s wedding reception.” Princess Beatrice will get married on May 20. The wedding will reportedly be privately funded.
