According to New Idea, Princess Anne’s children, Peter Phillips, and Zara Tindall are the Queen’s most favorite grandchildren. The monarch also has a special relationship with Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie.
Last year, sources revealed that the Queen has become much closer to her two youngest grandchildren, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn. The young royals have also been very helpful when it comes to taking care of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s young children.
The publication claimed that even though the Queen is close to Prince William, the latter happens to be his least favorite grandchild. After all, the nature of their relationship has been nothing but serious and professional.
Since Prince William is second in line to the throne, he is being groomed by the grandmother of his future role as the king of Britain. The Queen has been mentoring Prince William on his future role throughout most of his life so he has missed out on being called the Queen’s favorite grandchild.
While speaking with Nine News Australia, a royal insider claimed that Prince William and the Queen’s relationship actually changed in recent years.
“Prince William is going to be king one day. The Queen is 93 and she’s offloading a bit of her work both to her son and to her grandson. William has really had to up the ante and take on a lot of this heavy lifting,” the source said.
E! News royal correspondent Melania Bromley echoed the sentiments of the royal insider by saying that Prince William and the Queen’s relationship can be described as a half family and half business. The Queen’s other grandchildren perform royal duties on her behalf, but they were never trained on their future role as the head of the monarchy and Britain like Prince William.
