Poppy Delevingne Celebrates Her Solid & Striped Collaboration at The Happiest Hour. Last night inside The Happiest Hour a new venue from ACME’s Jon Neidich the scene was anything but chilly.

A polar vortex may be making its way towards the Northeast, but last night inside The Happiest Hour a new venue from ACME’s Jon Neidich the scene was anything but chilly. Friends and fashion cohorts gathered inside the West Village bar and restaurant to celebrate a collaboration between burgeoning swimwear label Solid & Striped and It Brit Poppy Delevingne. “I was really inspired by True Romance, Miami Vice, and Saved by the Bell that kooky kitsch vibe,” said Delevingne of her flamingo-printed bandeau, maillot, and triangle bikini she designed for the brand’s resort 2015 line. “I used ice cream-y, edible colors very vibrant and fun.”

The same could be said for the space, which was decked out in palm tree wallpaper and retro travel souvenirs. Waitresses wore candy-colored uniforms that looked straight out of a scene from the Piscine Molitor circa 1946 where and when the bikini first debuted.

That playful sense of escapism also applied to the soundtrack (The Beach Boys and Tina Turner), cocktail list (Poppy’s Perky Poison made with “a lot of love”), and the menu of burgers, French fries, and grilled vegetables. Some said the food wasn’t particularly fashion-friendly, but that didn’t stop the likes of Joan Smalls, Alexa Chung, Eugenie Niarchos, and Jessica Hart from digging in. Even the Pucci-clad host didn’t seem to have any qualms about the meal’s calorie count.

“If you look at Poppy’s social media you know that she spends enough time in a bikini to really have an opinion on it,” Solid & Striped founder Isaac Ross quipped. Delevingne admitted there was a bit of a learning curve nonetheless. “When you’re wearing clothes technically for a living you just put something on, you don’t think about the craftsmanship, the technical details,” she said. “Like is it really the right color? How many shades of coral are there? How many stitch shapes can you really have? All these little things that, especially as a model, you just don’t think about. I was surprised about the amount of work that goes into it.”

“I should have had a desk job because I loved it by the way,” Delevingne added. “The stationary and the Post-its and the little notes.” Just when it seemed the night was coming to a close, more guests these ones in gowns and suit jackets spilled in from the various galas and parties happening around town. Black tie, meet tiki.
