A Los Angeles-based clothes designer was waiting in line at a Joann Fabric and Crafts store when he found his ex-girlfriend was sought by the FBI for allegedly rioting at the Capitol on January 6, according to NBC News.

The designer, who wanted not to be identified for fear of violence, said a friend gave him an image of a popular FBI tweet before he was ready to make a purchase last weekend.

The April 27 tweet included a close-up of a short-haired woman wearing a unique pink beret. The woman “allegedly participated in the US Capitol riots,” according to the FBI, who asked people to phone the tipline or visit the website. “I stopped dead in my tracks,” the designer told NBC News. “I’m like, ‘That’s Jenny.'”

The designer provided a tip that weekend. The FBI contacted the designer on Monday and confirmed she was the person under investigation. Jennifer Inzuza Vargas of Los Angeles was identified as the lady with the pink beret by the FBI on Friday, according to NBC News.

Since January 6, 2021, the US government has been making a coordinated effort to punish anyone who took part in the violence. A total of 1,003 persons have been charged in connection with the insurrection.

Federal investigators have spent many hours sifting through security footage, hotel and phone data, and social media posts. However, several alleged players were caught under unusual circumstances.

In a similar example, an ex reported her former partner, Richard Michetti, after he called her a “moron” for not supporting Donald Trump. According to NBC News, after seeing the FBI’s plea for help, the designer replied in a now-deleted Twitter post, “I use to date this girl in 2019 LOL.” He also sent a picture of Vargas.

According to the guy, he met Vargas online in late 2018. Months later, Vargas revealed her more far-right ideas and interest in Hitler’s “Mein Kampf,” according to the designer.

“I was just instantly turned off, like, ‘Yo, I don’t think this is going to work out,'” he told NBC News. “You’re, like, reading ‘Mein Kampf,’ you think immigrants don’t deserve X, Y, Z.”

According to the source, the designer’s “heart hurts” for Vargas, but he also finds humor in the given situation. “It’s just going to be one of those things for me,” the designer told NBC News. “I dated this girl that was on the FBI’s most wanted list.” A spokesperson for Joann Fabric and Crafts did not reply to a response request made after office hours.
