Johnny Depp Gets Super Strange in New Dior Sauvage Fragrance Short Film

“I gotta get out of here. Which way? I don’t know,” Johnny Depp growls in the movie teaser for his first fragrance advertising, all arty images of skyscrapers at night. “Dior,” he adds.

Press materials released Wednesday reveal Depp will entrance Sauvage, Dior’s new men’s odor due on counter Sept. 2 and backed with a video by Jean-Baptiste Mondino that considers Depp roar out of Los Angeles in a vintage Dodge Challenger to Joshua Tree, Calif. The clip, also out Sept. 2, will be to feature an original rock ‘n’ roll track by slide guitar expert Ry Cooder.

Sauvage is a fresh odor by perfumer François Demachy described as powerful modern and unmistakably masculine. The name winks to Dior’s Eau Sauvage, first men’s smell, developed in 1966. The 60-ml size would be to retail for 69 euros; 100-ml for 95 euros.

Depp – who has starred in movies such as John Waters’ “Cry-Infant,” Bob Burton’s “Edward Scissorhands” and Jerry Bruckheimer’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” – has traditionally stored fashion at an arm’s length, instead sporting wide-ranging, quirky sartorial looks frequently matched with peculiar glasses and topped with a hat.

Photos from Sauvage video show J Depp in a dark blue shirt having trousers and a black jacket, accessorized with bracelets, different rings and necklaces.

Dior’s other beauty ambassadors include Robert Pattinson, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron and Eva Herzigova. The Fashion label also teased a photo from the print campaign on its Diormag Web site.
