Harry and Meghan’s relationship with Queen ‘strong as ever’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship with the Queen is as “strong as ever”, according to a royal biographer.

Omid Scobie, the co-author of the unauthorized biography Finding Freedom, also claims the couple’s decision to name their daughter Lilibet a sign of how close they are to the monarch.

When the Sussexes announced the name for their second child – Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor – earlier this year it caused a storm of debate over whether it was a touching tribute to the Queen or an insult.

Critics felt it was wrong to use a nickname for the Queen that had only been used in close royal circles and the question of when the Queen was informed was hotly disputed.

Now, royal author Scobie has said that the use of the name Lilibet shows how tight the relationship is between the Queen and the Sussexes.

Scobie told Good Morning America: “When it comes to that relationship with the Queen, it is as strong as ever.

They have nothing but love for her. Of course, we saw them name their daughter after the Queen’s very nickname. So that really gives us an insight into that close relationship.”

Scobie’s claims come as the 95-year-old monarch has reportedly ordered senior aides at Buckingham Palace to plan the fightback after repeated criticism from Meghan and Harry.

Her legal team is allegedly calling on libel and privacy experts after a sense of “enough are enough”.

A source told the Sun: There is a limit to how much will be accepted and the Queen and Royal Family can only be pushed so far.”

Since moving to the US, Harry has made a succession of stinging interviews where he has criticized his family.

The new paperback edition of Finding Freedom, by Scobie and Carolyn Durand, is due to be published next week and is expected to include the couple’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Meghan alleged that she was left feeling suicidal after joining the Royal Family and the couple said there was a conversation with an unnamed family member about what color Archie’s skin might be.

The interview rocked the monarchy with the Queen issuing a statement saying she was ‘saddened by the claims’ but that ‘some recollections may vary’.

Prince Harry is due to publish his own memoir next year.

It comes as a source claims Harry’s step-mum – the Duchess of Cornwall will never forgive Meghan for hurting Prince Charles in the wake of the couple’s decision to step away from royal life.

In an interview several months after moving to LA, Harry claimed that his family had “literally cut me off” financially and that he had been “let down” by his dad Charles.

A royal insider has come forward to claim that the rift caused by Megxit has done irreversible damage when it comes to the bond not just to Harry and Charles, but between Camilla and Meghan as well.

They told the Telegraph: I don’t think the Duchess will ever forgive Meghan for what she’s done to the Prince of Wales.”
