Being born into the monarchy has its perks – fancy dinners, custom clothing and even personal ponies.

That’s right, some of the youngest royals – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and even little Prince Louis – have been gifted their very own horses.

Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two, have taken a keen interest in horse riding and according to a report from The Times, their father Prince William is simply “thrilled”.

While the little royals have reportedly been begging their parents for their own horses for some time now, the royals have refused to cave… until now.

The Times report also says that the Cambridge children have been gifted their ponies on one condition.

Apparently, Kate and Will stipulated that their kids would have to be “hands-on” with the animals and help with grooming, mucking out stables and more.

Before having his own personal pony at his disposal, Prince George borrowed another royal’s horses to practice his hobby.

Horseback riding has long been a royal family tradition.

The Queen received her first pony – a Shetland pony called Piggy – when she was just four years old and Prince George reportedly began horse-riding lessons when he was the same age.

According to Hello!, when the royal first started, he borrowed his father’s cousin and Olympic equestrian Zara Tindall’s Shetland ponies.

Clearly Kate and Will decided it was time for George and his siblings to have their own ponies to practice on.

However, the news does come as quite a shock considering Kate Middleton rejected Charlotte’s own request for a pony just over a year ago.

Reportedly, towards the end of 2019, Princess Charlotte asked her parents for a pony but was denied due to Kate’s health concerns.

“I heard a rumour Kate’s allergic to horses.” New Idea Royals podcast host Zoe Burrell revealed at the time.

Journalist Angela Mollard added: “Charlotte’s wish makes me think of the Roald Dahl line, when one of the kids in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory goes, ‘Daddy, I want a pony’

“I can just imagine Charlotte saying that. Anyway, she wants one but William thinks she’s a bit young.”

Well, clearly the royals had a change of heart. Perhaps we will see some more great equestrians come out of the royal family.
