Simon Cowell has insinuated that Liam Payne could have some major beef with his One Direction bandmate Harry Styles. The music mogul lashed out at Liam this week, branding him disloyal and secretive. Payne revealed last week that he has signed a solo record deal with Capitol Records. Cowell insists that he had told Liam he was keen to work with him, but gave him some space to recuperate after he started his One Direction break. But something drove Liam to make a hasty decision and Cowell thinks it’s all to do with Harry.
The dad of one suggested that Payne was jealous when he heard Harry and signed with Colombia Records. He thinks that it what made him seek his own deal at speed. He also thinks he made the wrong choice. “I guess he read about Harry Styles deal and thought we weren’t interested. My impression was that he wasn’t in any hurry to make a record because he discussed this last year. He was more into songwriting,” the Syco exec told The Sun.
Harry has signed with Colombia, an offshoot of Sony (who also own Simon’s SYCO label). Niall Horan is expected to ink a deal with SYCO in the coming weeks. Louis Tomlinson won’t be making music of his own, however he has joined forces with Simon to launch a new girl group. It’s thought the Drag Me Down hitmaker will mastermind their first record and promotional tour. Liam really is the only one who has cut himself off entirely. He has even changed management teams too!
