Speaking to Page Six ahead of a live recording of A Right Royal Podcast, Nash suggested the decision was linked to the current state of Harry’s relationship with members of the Royal Family. According to the royal expert, Phillips and Harry have not been in regular contact for several years, leading to what she described as a natural distancing between the cousins.
The wedding, scheduled for June 6, is expected to attract several senior members of the Royal Family, including Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales. King Charles III is also expected to attend in some capacity, although official guest details have not been publicly confirmed.
Nash noted that Phillips has remained particularly close to William over the years and has often been viewed as a trusted confidant within the family. She also recalled Phillips’ role during Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021, where he was seen walking between the two brothers amid ongoing tensions.

The reported guest list decision comes after years of strained relations between Prince Harry and the Royal Family, following the publication of his memoir Spare and the release of the Sussexes’ Netflix documentary series.
According to Nash, inviting Harry could have shifted public attention away from the wedding itself and placed renewed focus on family divisions. The commentator suggested the decision may help ensure the event remains centred on Phillips and Sperling rather than wider royal controversies.
The wedding is expected to bring together several members of the Royal Family for one of the year’s most closely watched private royal gatherings.
