"The engagement ended awhile back – almost two months ago," says a source near to Uma Thurman. "They remain friends."
Uma Thurman and Arpad Busson began dating in the summer of 2007, and one year later, Arpad Busson proposed with an 8-plus carat engagement ring. Just don’t anticipate seeing that ring on Thurman’s finger anytime soon. "She will probably give it back," says the source near to Uma Thurman. "She wants to return everything that is his."
Perhaps Uma Thurman and Arpad Busson’s long-distance love affair was a factor. In September, Uma Thurman, 39, admitted she wasn’t planning to marry her London-based fiancé, Arpad Busson, anytime soon.
"I’m happily engaged but we haven’t set a wedding up," Uma Thurman told a magazine. "I’m not in a rush to do anything. One day we’ll do it, when we’re ready. We can’t live anywhere else because my children’s father lives here. We’ll figure it out."
Apparently, Arpad Busson is "beside himself" that they weren’t able to figure things out. The businessman has two sons with his former flame, supermodel Elle MacPherson, and Uma Thurman has a son and daughter with her ex-husband Ethan Hawke.
