Why Prince William and Princess Kate won’t sleep at Balmoral castle during upcoming summer trip

The Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to accompany King Charles to the Balmoral estate for a serene summer vacation in the upcoming weeks. The royal pair will be traveling with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. However, they won’t be staying inside the Balmoral Castle during their visit for an interesting reason.

The Wales family has their own residence within the estate called Tam-Na-Ghar, a gift from the late Queen Mother to Prince William before her passing in 2002. Prince William and Kate have enjoyed numerous visits to this property throughout their relationship, including past family holidays with their children.

The cottage is quite humble with only three bedrooms, indicating that Princes George and Louis might end up sharing a room. Photos of the property are rare as the Wales family prefers to maintain privacy during their stays.

The expansive Balmoral estate, encompassing 50,000 acres and housing 150 buildings, situates Tam-Na-Ghar near Birkhall, the residence of King Charles and Queen Camilla on the estate. The royal couple spent some of the COVID-19 pandemic at Birkhall.

Whether Charles will stay at the main castle like his mother used to, or at Birkhall, which he knows well, remains uncertain.

The royal family’s annual summer getaway is a time for embracing country life, featuring activities like hiking, horse riding, fishing, and picturesque picnics, reported Hello.

Both Queen Victoria and the late Queen Elizabeth held Balmoral in high regard, considering it their “Heaven on Earth”, and favoring the Scottish residence for summer retreats.

While King Charles hasn’t revealed his guest list for the estate this summer, it’s presumed that the invitations would be open, following his mother’s tradition.

Even though Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would be welcome to join, it seems unlikely that they will make the trip from the U.S. with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The Sussexes live in a spacious estate in Montecito, which boasts a large outdoor playground, pool, and games room, making it an ideal location to commence their summer holidays. Additionally, they have easy access to numerous kid-friendly attractions like the Santa Barbara Zoo and Butterfly Beach.
