The Oscars 2022 red carpet is finally here. For A-listers, awards-show season is one endless churn of step-and-repeats, gorgeous gowns, expertly tailored tuxedos, and glam squads galore. But even so, celebrities tend to save their most elegant over-the-top looks for the grand finale that is the Oscars red carpet, and this year was certainly no exception.

While last year’s ceremony, held at the Los Angeles Union Station, was scaled down due to the ongoing pandemic, the 2022 Academy Awards invited movie stars to once again converge on the Dolby Theatre for a dazzling, in-person celebration of the best in film over the last year. Aside from Oscar’s red carpet, this year’s show proves to be promising.

The Power of the Dog is leading the charge with 12 nominations, while King Richard (which is based on the true story of Venus and Serena Williams’s father, Richard Williams) earned Will Smith his third acting nom, and West Side Story’s Ariana DeBose could make history as the first queer Afro-Latina actor to win an Oscar.

Even after all that time away (and spent in front of their computer monitors, perfecting their shot) these actors definitely brought out their glitziest and most glam black-tie ensembles for the occasion, donning designer frocks, sparkling jewels, expertly thought-out accessories, and super-stylish shoes.

However, though everyone from movie casts to crews was dressed to the nines, only a handful of celebs can go home with the coveted title of best dressed for the evening, and this year, there was some seriously steep competition in that department.

From Oscar nominees who may be toting around an acceptance speech or good-luck charm in their purse or pants pocket to first-time attendees, everyone who walked the Oscars red carpet came dressed to impress.

Ahead, a look at all the must-see outfits from the Oscars red carpet.
