The scarf was first born in Rome. It was used as sweat cloth used to wipe the sweat from neck and face in the heat of the desert. It was Originally worn by men only around their neck or as a belt around their waist. Soon women started using the scarf as fashion. It was made of cloth and not made of wool, pashimina or silk .

In countries with cold climates a  knitted scarf is tied around the neck to keep it warm. In drier, dustier climates headscarf or bandanna is worn over the head to keep the hair clean. Scarves are more than just for keeping you warm or clean. Scarves can be used as an accessory as well. A scarf can completely change the look of an outfit. I often dress around the scarf I want to wear, donning By using a neutral colored scarf you can allow your scarf to take all the attention.

Scarves have evolved over the years. Scarves are not only available in different colour now but in a variety of textures, prints and fabric too. Scarves are now being made out of cashmere, pashmina, velvet, cashmere and silk.

Many celebrities have also been seen endorsing the scarf. Jessica Alba, for instance has been seen publicly wearing the Karma scarf.
