A few weeks back, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world and the palace with their bombshell announcement that they are quitting their roles as senior members of the royal family.
An insider told Radar Online that the Duchess of Cornwall had something to do with it because Prince Charles’ wife allegedly orchestrated Megxit.
“Charles hoped Camilla would be a calming influence, but he’s been blind to her scheming and stirring that’s been going behind his back,” a source said.
“Camilla secretly revels in all this drama. And she’s brilliant at playing all sides, like a conniving politician.”
The insider implied that it was Camilla who advised Markle to leave the royal family. The former “Suits” star looked up to the future queen consort and complied. The unnamed source added that Camilla is just biding her time and keeping everyone close until she is sitting on the throne as Prince Charles’ queen.
However, one should take the report with a grain of salt. More credible reports stated that Markle is a strong person and it’s unlikely she will be manipulated by Camilla. Also, it is very unlikely for Camilla to advise Markle to leave when the former actress’s presence in the royal family won’t affect her position.
In addition, many believe that Camilla and Markle have a good relationship. In fact, Camilla has a better relationship with Markle than with Kate Middleton.
“She was warm and welcoming from the start, and as a result, seems to have a slightly better relationship with Meghan than with Kate,” Robert Arissen said of Camilla’s relationship with Prince Harry’s wife.
Also, royal biographer Katie Nicholl said that Camilla has been a pillar of support for the Sussexes. She was always there for Prince Harry and Markle amid the controversy that the couple faced.
“I think Camilla was probably just as surprised as anyone else when the documentary came out and perhaps didn’t realise how much Harry and Meghan were suffering,” a source told Nicholl. “She wants everyone to get along and be happy.
Her mantra is carry on and keep smiling. She doesn’t want to see anyone struggling and she is fond of Meghan and she could be a very good ally too.”
