Carmelo Anthony’s wife: La La Anthony

Carmelo Anthony has built himself quite the career on the court. But he’s also winning outside of basketball. In this post, we’re taking a look at Carmelo Anthony’s wife, La La Anthony, and how they ended up together.

Melo and La La are both natives of New York City and ended up meeting in the club scene through a mutual friend named DJ Clue. La La was hosting an MTV show with the aforementioned at the time and developed a friendship with Carmelo, which turned into a relationship. Their first date saw Anthony fly to Long Beach to see La La, where they had dinner at the hotel she was staying at.

The couple officially got engaged in 2004 just after Melo came into the NBA. Three years later, they had a boy named Kiyan, who is now 13 years old. Carmelo Anthony and La La Anthony ultimately got married on July 10, 2010 in New York City in front of 320 guests.

Among the attenders were LeBron James, Amar’e Stoudemire, Kim Kardashian, and Ciara. VH1 actually filmed the ceremony for the reality series on the couple called “La La Anthony’s Full Court Wedding.”

Shortly after the conclusion of the 2016-17 season, La La moved out of the couple’s apartment and the two were living separately. It was allegedly reported that Carmelo got another girl pregnant when they were separated, but it remains to be seen if that was true. However, La La and Melo are now back together and are working things out.

They even spent the first part of quarantine together last April on the West Coast along with their lone son.

Enough about the two, though. Let’s dive into La La Vazquez, who saw her last name change at marriage. She was born in New York City to Puerto Rican parents.

The oldest of four kids, Anthony had many interests as a child, but music was her biggest passion. At just 15 years of age, she got her career started in New York City on the Hot 97 station.

After a brief internship, La La was given her own show (while still in high school!!) alongside rapper Ludacris in Atlanta. It was just the start of a thrilling ride in the entertainment industry. She briefly attended Howard University but never graduated. Clearly, La La didn’t need to, though.

She has enjoyed quite a career on her own as a celebrity TV host, actress, businesswoman, and producer, among other things.

La La Anthony rose to prominence in the early 2000s as a host on MTV’s Total Request Live, where she interviewed numerous artists and public figures. She has also made appearances in films such as Two Can Play That Game, You Got Served, and Think Like A Man. In 2003, she left MTV to launch her own production company, where she actually helped produce the critically acclaimed documentary Tyson.

Her biggest role yet on the big screen to this day came in the Starz TV Series Power, where she starred as Lakeisha Grant. The show went on for a total of six seasons.

In 2012, La La Anthony created MOTIVES by Anthony, a cosmetic line inspired for women of color. Just a year later, La La even launched a clothing line called 5th and Mercer. Her latest endeavor came back in 2019, when La La invented yet another clothing line called the La La Anthony Collection.

As you can see, she was really a celebrity before ever meeting Carmelo Anthony. La La has carved herself quite an impressive career across different avenues.

She is also a very close friend of Vanessa Bryant, the wife of the late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. La La was right beside Vanessa at Kobe’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony to support her dear friend. In fact, they also hang out quite frequently with Ciara, who is married to Russell Wilson.
