Alison Hammond begs the British to ‘leave Prince Harry alone’ after Prince Phillip’s death

Morning show host, Alison Hammond, is urging Brits to leave Prince Harry alone as he mourns the loss of his grandfather, Prince Philip.

During Tuesday (April 13) morning’s episode of the ITV programme, she was discussing Harry and his brother Prince William’s very different statements about Prince Philip’s death, with co-host Dermot O’Leary, Vanessa Feltz and Tom Swarbrick.

“William and Harry paid tribute to Prince Philip, obviously in two very different ways, the Duke of Cambridge released a statement praising the Duke’s lifetime of service to Queen, country and Commonwealth,” co-host, Dermot O’Leary said.

“Harry released his half an hour later with a contrasting statement, a master of the barbecue and a legend of banter. I suppose they are always going to be different.”

Vanessa responded by saying: “They are two different people, why shouldn’t they have two different statements? You don’t have to make one unified statement about their personal grandpa. Everybody knows the family has unique relationships with each family member, William is more measured and formal, Harry is more reverent, both delightful.”

Tom said: “Not really, the ‘legend of banter’ stuff is a little bit discordant with what you might think the mood to be, and the somber way in which people are responding to it.

“But then it’s his grandfather, it’s his grief, his relationship with him. So even if it’s like what a teenager would say, legend of banter, all aboard the banter bus. Actually it’s his grief… let’s back off.”

Allison immediately intervened and said: “Whatever Harry is saying right now, I think he will be criticized. I think it’s very unfair. Leave him alone, he just lost his grandfather, leave him alone. “
