Eyes popped at Versace’s fall 2014 couture show, where models’ peepers were defined with thick, dual-toned wings. Makeup artist Pat McGrath explained Donatella Versace “wanted something very different from what we normally do; [typically it’s] a sexy eye.

This time, she said: ‘I’d love something really graphic, aerodynamic and also something fun.’” McGrath crafted the shape with eyeliner and then filled it in with two hues of teal the paler in the center and darker on the outside. Then a shimmer powder was layered over.

False lashes were applied and mascara generously heaped on top lashes. Models’ skin was given a touch of contouring, while their lips remained pale and eyebrows groomed. Hairstylist Guido Palau slicked models’ hair back and twisted it into a tight coil. He called the look “tough, glossy couture.”

The strands left hanging out of the buns were ironed, “so there’s a kind of punk feeling to the hair, as well [with] the makeup,” he said. “It’s still very Donatella, very based on rock ‘n’ roll and strong women.” To achieve the style, Palau used Redken Hardwear 16 Super Strong Hair Gel and the brand’s Forceful 23 Super Strength Finish Spray.
