Shia LaBeouf encourages fans to call him for new art project

Shia LaBeouf launched his latest performance art stunt on Thursday by setting up a call center in Liverpool, England and asking fans to phone him.

The “Transformers” star is basing himself in a gallery at the city’s Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, where he and two artistic collaborators will field calls for seven hours a day from Thursday to Sunday.

The stunt is titled #TOUCHMYSOUL and is a collaboration with artists Luke Turner and Nastja Sade Ronkko.

A statement posted on Touchmysoul.net reads, “From 11am GMT on 10 December 2015, #TOUCHMYSOUL by LaBeouf, Ronkko & Turner will commence at FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology)… Over the next four days, LaBeouf, Ronkko & Turner invite you to pick up your telephone and touch their soul…”

Members of the pubic can view the trio taking calls at the arts complex, or watch events unfold via an online video stream.

Since 2014, Shia has staged a number of bizarre performance arts events, including a high-profile stunt last month when the actor took over a New York cinema to watch every single one of his films in reverse order.

“It was really nice to be sitting watching [my] ‘Indiana Jones’ [film] and feeling all this shame about the movie and to have somebody come up and nudge me on the shoulder and say, ‘It wasn’t your fault.’ You leave the theater and strangers feel like family,” Shia told Britain’s Guardian newspaper of the cinema stunt.
