Kevin Costner Issues Statement After His Wife Christine Files for Divorce

Kevin Costner’s wife, Christine Baumgartner, has filed for divorce. The couple has been married for 18 years and shares three children together.

Costner, 68, and Baumgartner, 49, first met in 1996. They reconnected years later and married in 2004 at Kevin’s Colorado ranch.

People reported that a spokesperson for Kevin issued the following statement: “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.

We ask that his, Christine’s, and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.” It is unclear what led to the divorce, but according to TMZ, Christine cited “irreconcilable differences” in her filing. This is Costner’s second marriage. He was previously married to Cindy Silva from 1978 to 1994.

Earlier this year, Costner won the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his role in Yellowstone. He and Christine were unable to attend due to the flooding near their home in California. When he received the award in the mail, he explained how Christine made the night of the ceremony special for their family as they celebrated together at home.

This has been a tumultuous year for Costner. The Oscar-winning actor has been at the center of speculation surrounding the future of Yellowstone. According to reports, filming for the second half of season five has stalled due to a dispute over his contract.

Costner’s attorney Marty Singer has spoken out against the claims, saying, “The idea that Kevin was only willing to work one week on the second half of Season 5 of Yellowstone is an absolute lie. It’s ridiculous— and anyone suggesting it shouldn’t be believed for one second.”
