Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were “furious” after a photographer snapped pictures of them leaving a medical appointment following Meghan’s miscarriage, a new biography of the couple has claimed.
Finding Freedom, written by royal journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, was unauthorized by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex but quotes royal sources and examines reports of momentous events that have taken place over the course of the couple’s relationship.
It charts everything that has happened to the Sussexes since they met, from the lead-up to the couple stepping down as senior royals, to their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, to their various legal battles over paparazzi images.

Some of the contested images were taken in July last year, and show Harry and Meghan leaving a medical center in Beverly Hills. The pictures, which were obtained and published by the Daily Mail, accompanied a story criticizing the couple for getting into a “gas-guzzling” Cadillac SUV.
The report focused on the couple’s use of the Cadillac Escalade, quoting online reviews that described the vehicle as being “as far from environmentally friendly as you can get”.
The Sussexes have also previously faced criticism for using private jets to travel. Harry has defended his family’s use of private jets for security reasons and says he buys carbon credits to offset the emissions produced by such trips.
Harry and Meghan have been outspoken about the negative impact of climate change on the planet and launched an eco-friendly travel initiative to encourage a sustainable future for the travel industry.

According to the authors of Finding Freedom, the couple was “furious” when they discovered the photographer had been tipped off about their presence at the medical center.
The duchess revealed in November that she had a miscarriage in July, writing in the New York Times that she felt “an almost unbearable grief” and watched Harry’s “heartbreak as he tried to hold the shattered pieces of mine”.
Meghan, 39, described her experience of feeling a “sharp cramp” while changing her son Archie’s diaper, adding: “Hours later, I lay in a hospital bed, holding my husband’s hand. I felt the clamminess of his palm and kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears. “Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal.”

It is unclear if the images of Harry and Meghan leaving the medical center were taken immediately after the miscarriage happened, or during a follow-up appointment. But the authors of Finding Freedom wrote: “What should have been a deeply personal moment quickly became the top story on the Newsweek, with a dozen photos of the masked couple getting into a Cadillac SUV.”
The legal team for Harry and Meghan has said that Scobie and Durand do not speak for the couple and that the couple “did not collaborate with the authors on the book, nor were they interviewed for it”.
