A liquid wax product, thick in texture, is applied to skin, especially on areas such as legs, bikini, and underarm and ripped-off and away, taking unwanted hair with it. There are many types of waxes such as the following,

Hot Wax

Thick in texture, tolerable hot wax is made to ‘set’ on the skin. Renowned waxer Otylia Roberts says “Hot wax is the best hair removal treatment; made from beeswax, resins and oils, applied thickly onto skin, it opens-up pores; ensuring hair’s removed with minimal discomfort. Wax every 4-6 weeks, as blood supply to hair is abundant; therefore it is more destructive to hair follicles. Left longer, hair becomes dead, with new hair lying underneath, waiting to come-through.”

Strip Wax

Pre-waxed paper strips are applied to the skin, then ‘pulled’ quickly ripping off hair.

Sugaring

Heated mixtures of sugar, lemon juice and water are mixed together to form wax. This wax is best for shorter hair.Regular waxing reduces hair growth, and re-growth is finer. Waxing can be expensive and painful.

Pre-treatment tip

Take paracetamol for its anti-inflammatory and skin numbing properties. Re-growth between treatments can be a bit annoying!

Another method of hair removal is Laser. Laser lights are passed-over areas of skin, aiming multiple hairs with one pulse. This produces a high-intensity pure light ray, with which heat is created destroying hair roots without damage to the skin. Laser treatment can be used after 7-10 days. The greater the color contrasts between hairs and skin-coloring; that is dark hairs on fair skin-types, the more effective the results.

Since laser treatment works best on fairer skin, limit your exposure to UV light. If you are waxing, halt treatments two weeks prior to laser treatment. Do not deodorants, scented skin care products, alcohol, and aspirin 48-hours pre-treatment to avoid risk of skin reactions. You can use it on the face, neck, bikini line, underarms, arms and legs.

Hair removal creams are basically used at-home, on most areas of the body. Hair removal cream is applied to skin, and left for a duration, then removed with the spatula removing the hair along with it.

Women who like to remove hair themselves and do not mind the mess; hair removal cream is a great, quick-fix solution of hair removal.

The fast method of hair removal is Razors. Razors can be used with or without shaving creams. For finest results, use in the shower or bath, as water provides lubrication for the razor to glide over the skin. Razors are easily used on the underarms and legs, as the bikini line will grow-back very itchy if removed with a razor. Quick and easy, with instant results, it can be easily incorporated into you daily bathing ritual.
