Silk

Synthetic Wicking Materials
Two most commom wicking materials are coolmax and polypropylene. They are found in liners as well as walking socks.
Cotton
Cotton absorbs sweat effectively but when it comes to insulation it offers no help. Cotton socks get very uncomfortable when wet. This can lead to blistering of the feet. At the same time when combined with wool cotton socks become an excellent choice for lightweight summer walking.
