Did Nicole Kidman just spill the tea about husband Keith Urban?

Of the many celebrity power couples in Hollywood, actress Nicole Kidman & musician Keith Urban are some of the most iconic. The two Australians both share unbridled talent, international recognition, and the parenting responsibilities of two children. Kidman & Urban recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary.

While many celebrity couples hide behind the veil of fame & opulence, Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban seem humble by comparison. Kidman has said that when she moved with her family from Australia to the United States, they did not have very much money.

Much like Kidman, Keith Urban also came from modest beginnings, having grown up on a farm where his family lived in a shed. The couple has certainly done well for themselves over the years, as they own prime real estate in Australia, New York, and Los Angeles.

However, they reside mostly at their 3.47 million dollar home in the country music capital of Nashville, Tennessee. All of this makes Kidman & Urban’s marriage seem like the ideal relationship. Get ready to swoon even more when you hear how Keith Urban proposed to Nicole Kidman.

Nicole Kidman recently did a virtual interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote her new Hulu show Nine Perfect Strangers. Naturally, their conversation veered into the territory of Kidman’s marriage. Fallon asked Kidman when Keith Urban first swept her off her feet.

Kidman responded by saying that Urban “sat on the stoop” of her apartment in New York. She recalls that she came out at 5 AM on her birthday and that Keith was waiting for her with flowers. Nicole Kidman says that after that, she “was a goner” and agreed to marry Keith Urban. This anecdote was met with a long “aww” from the studio audience in New York.

In the same interview, Fallon also asked Kidman if Urban threw a surprise party for their anniversary. Kidman answered by saying that she didn’t like surprises because she once had a surprise birthday party that caused her to have an adverse physical reaction.

Jimmy Fallon also wanted to know if Nicole Kidman would ever record a duet album with Keith Urban. Kidman said that she wouldn’t feel comfortable with it because she believes you should “stay in your lane.”

It seems that Keith Urban came along at just the right time for Nicole Kidman, as she had divorced Tom Cruise several years before she and Urban met. Kidman & Cruise met when they were filming Days of Thunder in 1989, and got married shortly after. Kidman & Cruise also parented two children together, yet their marriage was a tumultuous one.

Interestingly enough, Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman play a couple whose marriage is on the rocks in Stanley Kubrick’s 1999 film Eyes Wide Shut. Unlike the couple they portray in the film, Cruise & Kidman weren’t able to reconcile their differences.

In 2001, it was announced that they would be divorcing. Despite all of the public controversy, Kidman says that she still loves Tom Cruise and that he played a major role in her life. While there is currently much hype around Kidman’s performance in Nine Perfect Strangers, her husband Keith is nothing to sneeze at.

In her Tonight Show interview, Nicole Kidman told Jimmy Fallon that Keith is performing in Las Vegas, which is why she had to appear remotely.  Keith Urban has managed to remain one of the most popular & prolific country artists, as he put out his most recent album THE SPEED OF NOW Part 1 in 2020.

Urban also appears on the reissue of Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and even recorded a single for Nine Perfect Strangers. Nicole Kidman has been having a bit of a renaissance lately. She has starred in the two critically acclaimed HBO series Big Little Lies and The Undoing.

Artful acting in films is still important to her, as she appeared in the A24 production of Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Killing of a Sacred Deer. She is also still a blockbuster presence, having appeared alongside Jason Momoa in 2018’s Aquaman.
